What "Custom Printed Balloons" Actually Covers
"Custom printed balloons" is a broad term that spans several very different products and printing methods. Getting the terminology right in your RFQ avoids quoting delays and sampling rework. The main personalization routes are logo printing, full-color photo printing, name and letter balloons, and custom die-cut shapes — each with its own substrate, MOQ, and lead time.
Personalization Methods
Logo & brand printing
Screen printing is the workhorse for custom balloons with a logo: 1–4 spot colors, Pantone matching, and one or both sides of the balloon. It is the most cost-effective method for solid logos and the lowest MOQ entry point. Full-wrap and 360° wrap printing are available on 11"–12" latex for edge-to-edge artwork.
Photo & full-color balloons
Custom photo balloons use full-color (CMYK) transfer or digital printing to reproduce a photograph or detailed multi-color artwork. They carry a higher unit cost and MOQ than spot-color logos, so they suit premium promotional runs rather than commodity packs.
Name, letter & number balloons
For names and messages, buyers usually combine 16"/32" foil number and letter balloons with printed latex. Letter and number foils are stocked in standard metallics and can be custom-colored for larger programs.
Custom shaped & mylar balloons
Custom mylar balloons are die-cut from BOPP/nylon film into bespoke shapes (mascots, product silhouettes, logos as a physical outline). Tooling for a new die adds cost and lead time, so these are specified for brand campaigns and repeat programs.
Choosing the Substrate
| Type | Best for | |
|---|---|---|
| Natural latex (5"–36") | Logo packs, garlands, everyday promotions | Screen / full-wrap |
| Foil / mylar | Numbers, letters, custom shapes, float-time premium | Heat transfer / pre-print |
| Confetti & bobo | Premium event and retail packs | Spot logo on clear |
If you are weighing materials, our latex balloon page covers finishes (standard, metallic, pastel, agate, chrome), and the printed party supplies overview explains how the six printing methods map to product, artwork, and budget.
MOQ, Sampling & Lead Time
- MOQ: indicatively from 3,000 pcs per design for screen-printed latex; photo and custom-shape balloons are higher.
- Sampling: 7–10 days after artwork approval; sample fee is typically refundable on a bulk order.
- Bulk lead time: 20–35 days depending on quantity and print method.
- Artwork: vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) with Pantone references are preferred for clean logo reproduction.
For event décor programs, pre-assorted balloon garland and arch kits bundle mixed sizes with tape and instructions in retail-ready packaging.
